Dr. Gary Xie

Dr. Xie has been a Doctor of Chinese Medicine for over 38 years, studying both Chinese and Western medicine.

CHINA 1984-2000   For approximately 16 years, Dr. Xie worked as a Doctor of Chinese Medicine in China. He grew up in China's northwest geographical center where he graduated from Gansu University of Chinese Medicine in Lanzhou in 1984. There, he studied both Western and Chinese medicine. Dr. Xie's education and years of practice have given him expertise in blending traditional and modern forms of medicine to help his patients achieve healing and pain relief, as well as overall health of mind, body, and spirit.

After excelling in medical school, Dr. Xie practiced in a large integrative teaching hospital in Lanzhou China, while also serving as a professor of Chinese medicine at Gansu University of Chinese Medicine. A gifted physician himself, Dr. Xie has had the privilege of working with many other gifted and well-known physicians. 

One of the most important things Dr. Xie learned from his mentors and colleagues is that only when you devote yourself to a worthwhile pursuit are you able to achieve genuine success. Toward that end, Dr. Xie has devoted himself to the practice of Chinese medicine for the service of others. 

Chinese medicine is both an art and a science. Its therapeutic system is based on the unique philosophy that "From a single small clue, one can see what is coming."  This skill and ability can be developed only through practice over a long period of time. After 38 years in medicine, Dr. Xie is an excellent listener, observer, diagnostician, and herbalist.

USA 2000-present   In 2000, Dr. Xie brought his Chinese medicine expertise to the US. He practiced 16 years at Ton Shen Health and Shen Shen clinic in Chicago with herbalist Zhengang Guo. From 2006 to 2019, Dr. Xie has also taught as a lecturer and clinical supervisor at National University of Health Sciences in Lombard, Illinois. 

Dr. Xie is a renowned acupuncturist. He helps patients of all ages with various injuries and conditions related to all major organs and systems. Dr. Xie consults with acupuncturists across the U.S. including the head of Chicago's Cook County Hospital Palliative Care Unit. Because of his extraordinary expertise, acupuncture is a large part of Dr. Xie's practice. 

As a herbalist, Dr. Xie has a broad understanding of pharmaceuticals and how all natural Chinese herbs and individually formulated teas can support and often replace drugs to avoid their side effects. Dr. Xie formulates teas and suggests Chinese herbs for patients of all ages with every type of medical condition. He works with oncologists and cancer patients. Individual teas formulated by Dr. Xie have healed and resolved pre-cancer cells and tumors in his patients. He also works with other challenging conditions, some with no known cure in Western medicine. 

Sometimes healing happens quickly, other times it takes time. Either way, Dr. Xie will be there for you, to listen, and treat you - mind, body, and spirit.
